Events at Bars and Clubs in New York City

Joe's Pub - With its genre-blind booking and vast diversity of interests, the stage at Joe's Pub gives voice to a world of varied and stellar artists. In the past they've hosted Nellie McKay, Dolly Parton, Mos Def, Kronos Quartet, Sarah Silverman, and Sandra Bernhard, to name a few.

barbès - Owned and operated by two French musicians and long-time Brooklyn residents, barbès functions as a neighborhood community center of sorts. Its intimate back room is host to regular music events, readings, and film screenings.

Bar 13 - Open mics, karaoke, and dance parties.

The Baggot Inn - Live music and an open mic night.

BAMcafé Live - At the Brooklyn Academy of Music. Every Friday and Saturday night, BAMcafé Live showcases renowned and emerging artists, featuring some of the best jazz, R&B, world beat, pop, and experimental music from Brooklyn and beyond. Free.

stainbar - This lounge touts itself as the first and only to serve New York-made wine and beer exclusively. The locals-friendly hangout also hosts literary readings, displays the work of up-and-coming artists, features a relaxing back garden, and boasts some of the best "staingria" around.
